Western Foodservice and Hospitality Expo

This was awesome. I went to San Diego (for the first time. Yep, only lived in LA for 8 years...) with my new friend, Rico Mandel, where we ate and drank our way through the Western Foodservice and Hospitality Expo.

This was by far the coolest expo I've ever been to. I think it's because people are constantly eating and drinking. The vibe is very relaxed and open. Everyone is full and everyone is happy.

I walked away feeling like this is my scene! Seven solid hours of food, entertaining and great service talk.

Now to figure out where I fit in...

This was a sushi making machine. I'm not a sushi girl, but Rico partook and said it was tasty.

Wagyu beef. Holy marbling. Memorable flavor.

Chefs making dough with some magic dough making machine. Gotta say, for the small artisan food supplier, this isn't exactly paradise, but was endlessly fascinating. Now I cannot wait for the Fancy Food Show in January.

Tamales. Again, amazing.

Thanks again, Rico, for driving and for being such an inspiring and supportive mentor! Hope we do it again soon.
