Hipstamatic Food

Forgot to take my real camera to work today, but never fear!  I used my Hipstamatic (iPhone app) and snapped some food pics for the masses.  The result?  Very funky color.  We'll just say it's retro and call it a life.

Above is Northern China Pork Stir-fry with rice noodles, bean sprouts, carrots and cucumbers.

Pineapple salsa (to go with the chili rubbed chicken below):  fresh pineapple, diced jalapeno and lime juice.  Zesty and refreshing.

Okay, chocolate chip cookies spread, but miraculously came apart beautifully once cooled.  These are chewy, not crunchy, per clients suggestion.  What makes a chewy cookie?  Add an extra egg yolk and under bake just a smidge (take them out before they look completely cooked).

Sweet chili rubbed crispy chicken.  I made a mixture of dried, ancho chili, garlic powder, Mexican oregano and a pinch of brown sugar.  Toss in a freezer bag and toss in chicken (this is bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs).  I love cooking WITH the skin because I don't have to add any additional fat and it helps the meat stay juicy and flavorful.

Carrot puree.  SO good.  This was actually my favorite dish of the day:  carrots simmered in homemade chicken stock until completely tender.  Drain, put in food processor with light cream cheese and a touch of salt and pepper.  Sweet, creamy, full of vitamins.

Sugar snap peas quickly sauteed in a tiny bit of sesame oil and fresh garlic.  Salt and pepper.  Done.

What are you craving?
